SEAS


The Black Sea is an area of 42,400 sq km. Its coastline is 1,695 kilometers long, the lowest point of the sea is 2,244 m.
The land on the Black Sea consists mainly of cliffs, the water depth falls quickly from the shore her up to 1,500 meters. Low evaporation and many freshwater inflows cause a low salt content of 18%, in estuaries from 15 to 16%.
The Marmara Sea, a small inland sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean together, has 189 km of coastline and a depth of 760 to 3500 m. The salinity of water in this Black Sea-Mediterranean Association is 26%.
The lowest point of the Aegean Sea is 1,000 m, the salinity of the water is 26%.
A part of the Mediterranean comes to Turkey. The coastline there is 1,577 km long. The salinity of the water amounts to 39% in the east, the west 36%.
